HOLDERS of Chinese green cards can apply for “foreign permanent resident ID cards” from today Blues T.J Oshie Jersey , the Ministry of Public Security announced yesterday.
The new machine-readable cards with embedded chips are similar to Chinese citizens’ identity cards and will replace the current permanent residence cards.
The new cards can be used to access finance, education, hospital, transport, telecommunications Blues Shayne Corson Jersey , tax, social insurance, property registration and legal services in China with no other personal documents required, according to the ministry.
It earlier demanded accelerated upgrading of Internet systems of the railway, airlines Blues Scottie Upshall Jersey , banks, insurance agencies and banks to facilitate use of cards held by foreigners.
China Southern Airlines said foreigners can buy air tickets from the company with the new cards, though they can still use the current cards as long as they are valid.
The new cards will be issued nationwide from June 16. Applicants will receive the cards within 20 days from the date of application, and the documents required are the same as those needed to apply for the old cards, the ministry said.
Green card holders who live in Shanghai can apply to the issuers of the original cards — the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau and its branch offices Blues Scott Gomez Jersey , the bureau said.
Shanghai applicants can call 2895-1900 if they have any problems regarding the process.
There were 175,931 foreigners living in Shanghai at the end of 2015, with 2,404 of them green card holders, according to the city’s statistics bureau.
